1. Experiment with flavors.

Sweet-and-sour and sweet-and-salty combinations are normal to many people (and thus, not unusual), so you can try something else by experimenting with proportions or introducing a third component. Take note, however, that the idea is to create a combination that sounds crazy but is not gross to eat.
2. Combine the unthinkable.
Did you know that you can create an oatmeal cookie topped with a square of bacon? If you think this is unimaginable, wait until you take a bite. It tastes heavenly. If you want to create an unusual recipe such as this, try to be imaginative and creative. Explore possibilities, and don't stop asking questions such as "What happens if I add this to this?" and "How will tomatoes and cheese taste like when they are eaten together?"
Following the same principle, you can even combine two cuisines. If you love Italian and Portuguese cuisines, you might want to create spaghetti (Italian) with sauce made of seafoods (Portuguese).
